New Mexico dude ranches

New Mexico has fewer guest ranches than its neighbors, and they are far apart: working cattle country near Roswell and Magdalena, a riding ranch in the Gila country, a historic lodge on the upper Pecos, and two luxury properties in the northeast, Vermejo and Canyon Madness.

The cattle work here is the real thing when it's on. Burnt Well Guest Ranch near Roswell has guests working cattle on regular stays, Concho Hills rides out with neighboring ranches when there is work to do, and La Union Ranch runs a ride-along week in spring and a fall cattle drive.
